Suicide the End Phenomenon of Scientology

Scientology refers to death as "dropping the body" and suicide is called "ending cycle". How can an organization that calls itself a church be the cause of suicide?  Believe it or not, you can find  so many references of suicide directly related to Scientology that you would be reading for days and not get through them all.  Why do people in the "church" commit suicide?  After all. isn't Scientology supposed to make the "able more able"?  As far as I have been able to determine, there are two main causes.

First, there is disillusionment.  A person has given so many years, all of their money, basically their whole lives, only to find out that it was a scam.  They feel so used and embarrassed that they see suicide as the only way to feel better.

The second is caused by the diabolical Scientology process called the "sec check", or security check.  There are some security checks in Scientology that are designed only to break your mind.  I know.  I have been through it.  In my case, it left me feeling so dirty that I thought I would never be able to wash away the evil that they had made me feel was in and on me.  I have been out for almost eighteen years and this still affects me.

Today we will speak for the dead with the voices of the people who knew about the cases.

From a Glosslip Radio interview (April 25, 2008) with Marc Headley by Dawn Olson. [Excerpt, starting at 1h 24m 54s]:

MH: There is a girl by the name of Stacy Moxon, or Stacy Meyers. That's a girl that worked at the INT base. They said she committed suicide [sic] . . . she was electrocuted to death in a high voltage transformer vault. Well, somebody told me that she left a note. So, it wasn't actually an accident. The [Church of Scientology] make it, basically saying that it was an accident, she went in to save a squirrel or something. [...] That's the way they played it off, as that she was that nature loving girl who wanted to make sure the squirrel wasn't hurt, and then she slipped on some oil... 

No, she went in there and she grabbed the vault, that's what happened.

DO: Why did that happen?

MH: She wasn't allowed to leave the property to go see her husband and her family. And she wasn't being allowed to go, she was basically being held captive there, like every other person at the INT base. But she was new to the INT base, and she has been only in there for a few months. And she was basically, "I can't take this anymore." And she even threatened and told other people that she was depressed, she was separated from her husband who worked in Los Angeles.

Her own father is one of the lead litigation attorneys for the church, Ken Moxon. And he still fights for the church, even though that happened to his daughter. And he doesn't even know that there was a note. But he still fights for the church, his daughter is dead, because she wasn't allowed to go down and see them.

From the Affidavit of Hana Eltringham Whitfield (8 March 1994):


During my twenty years in Scientology, I delivered thousands of hours of auditing to others, among 

them preclears with similar experience to mine and worse, and some who committed suicide. [...]
199. Some attempted suicides that I know of:

(a) Jim Hester was a preclear at the Miami Org in the mid to late 1970s. He attempted suicide in Miami and
was then hospitalized in critical condition. He left a suicide note blaming Scientology, attached hereto in Exhibit 80, a copy of a GO report.

(b) Leah Theriery. She attempted suicide sometime in May 1974, attached hereto in Exhibit 81, a copy of a GO report.

(c) A friend of Gerald Simon's who was a Scientologist, attempted suicide by drinking a full can of RAID insect killer because he had been ordered to disconnect from his girlfriend.

200. I saw many Scientologists and Sea Org members go crazy and/or suicidal, like myself, while getting auditing.

From Time Magazine: "The Thriving Cult of Greed and Power":


This young Russian-studies scholar had jumped from a 10th-floor window of the Milford Plaza Hotel and bounced off the hood of a stretch limousine. When the police arrived, his fingers were still clutching $171 in cash, virtually the only money he hadn't turned over to the Church of Scientology, the self-help "philosophy" group he had discovered just seven months earlier.

From the Affidavit of LaVenda Van Schaick (1982):


The purpose of sending the PC folders to the Guardian's Office where a person had been designated SP or Fair Game was to use the contents of the folders to attack, threaten, blackmail and control the person and thereby prevent the person from seeking to collect refunds of moneys paid to the Church or to prevent the person from exposing the Church activities. The Church regularly and as part of its policy uses the material in these folders to blackmail and control its members in this way. I personally observed this done on numerous occasions contrary to the promises made to Church members. In one case, the Church declared a person named David Sandweiss an SP and threatened to expose auditing information revealed to his auditor by him if he sued for a refund or sought in any way to expose the Church problems. He thereafter committed suicide.

From the Affidavit of Andre Tabayoyon (5 March 1994):


42. I personally observed a number of other Scientologists go crazy and commit suicide as a result of the auditing processes. Bob Shaffner and I were serving sentences on the RPF's RPF together. Although inmates are not allowed to speak to each other while on the RPF's RPF, Bob made it a point to tell me two or three times daily that he was going to kill himself because of what he experienced during RPF's RPF & OT III auditing. One day we were working on dangerous machinery and Bob suddenly thrust his finger into the machine which cut his finger off. Scientology management was fully aware of Bob's condition. He was placed on the risk of suicide list. Because he was suicidal, his berthing quarters while in the RPF were limited to first floor facilities. Whatever was done, if anything, to help Bob failed. He successfully committed suicide several years later. [...]

45. I received instructions directly from Ray Mithoff to use the Hubbard Tech of thought reform to drive Tom Ashworth to a psychotic break. The express object of the exercise was to drive Tom crazy and to commit suicide.

I've not seen anything mentioned at whyaretheydead or anywhere on the internet about Dale Bogen's suicide while she was on services at ASHO back in Nov 1984. Does anyone remember her or the situation? I was out of town for 2 months and when I came back I asked around ASHO if any one had seen her. The D of P told me to speak to the Dir I & R, Bobby Schaffner, who I knew pretty well. I said," Bob, What's going on with Dale Bogen? The D of P told me to ask you." He asked me to step in and close the door, which I did.

Now, my 1st thought was this:  I knew that she was getting auditing but I also knew she was a petition-approved pc so I thought maybe something changed on that and asked him. I knew he'd be straight with me. "No, she was a pc" on a rundown that is sometimes given to people who are overwhelmed and unable to proceed in processing but she'd committed suicide after leaving the org one night back in November  (1984).

I was shocked. Here it was over a month later I did not know how to respond. This was, for me, the 3rd unexpected death of a Scientologist in over 1 year. It was so unreal. I could not imagine Dale doing something like that but then again, I did not know every personal thing about her. I asked how she died and how did he find out. He said the police contacted ASHO when they found her because she had receipts and some books in the car.  He said she took her car way up the main road in the Los Angeles Mountains, parked and plugged up the exhaust line with a rag or something and then got back in the car and went to sleep with the engine on. He knew nothing else.

I put my 'KSW  (Keeping Scientology Working) hat' on and I asked him if he made sure her folders got to Qual for rev and correction. He said "yes", but we both knew at that time that nothing was predictable and 'what was supposed to be and what actually happened were often 2 different things' . We just looked at each other and I could tell he was not the happy Bob I'd all come to know in the past. He looked so tired. We chatted for a few minutes about other things and I left.

 I finished up my cycles in Los Angeles and returned home shortly thereafter, seemingly blocking the whole thing out until I got news that Bobby had died after he'd struck a truck with his motorcycle on June 05,1987.

Philip Chandler Gale (1978, Los Angeles, California – March 13, 1998, Cambridge, Massachusetts) was a pioneering internet software developer and computer prodigy, an avid musician, and a Scientologist for most of his early life. Gale earned roughly a million dollars worth of stock options for his innovative internet service provider (ISP) programs at EarthLink, a firm established and bankrolled by members of the Church of Scientology. Gale chose Friday, the thirteenth of March (L. Ron Hubbard's birthday) as the day he wanted to commit suicide, falling to his death from a classroom window on the fifteenth floor of a building on the Massachusetts Institute of Technology campus. Several years earlier, he had left the church after deciding Scientology was not for him.

From They Should Not Have Died on the death of Greg Bashaw:

Shortly before his suicide, Greg left a post on the OCMB Message Board.  In it he said , “I was declared for objecting strenuously to some things that I saw as so out tech, off policy, out KSW that it broke through the fog and I refused to go along with it. I “enturbulated” so many people I was declared despite the fact my Comm-Ev agreed with me. I enturbulated them too, I was told. I was shocked to find myself on the street with nothing. I begged to be allowed to do the RPF. After many appeals and reviews I developed some serious medical problems that I knew would prevent me from getting up the bridge or back in the Sea Org this life time.

“Scientologists believe there is no such thing as death, you are a thetan occupying a meat body. I decided my only choice was to drop the body and pick up another one. I was not suicidal, it just seemed like the only logical thing to do. I didn't tell anyone. I decided to wait until my children (whom I had abandoned to my ex to join the Sea Org years before) were grown and independent, because we had become close and I knew it would hurt them to be abandoned again.

“Meanwhile, I went back to finish my degree, and got on the internet. I found Clambake and couldn't stop reading. There were so many stories of people I knew! Clambake and all the people who cared enough to tell their stories and make the truth about Scientology available on the Internet saved my life.

“For the last 10 years I was fooling myself regarding the services I was taking [with Scientology], and whether they were advancing me. I wanted them to be… In retrospect, I would have been better the last ten years to have focused on simply building a family life, and on work, as most people do… Being on the services the whole time was almost unbelievably demanding in terms of time, money and commitment. The fact that it did not ‘pay off’ has been an exceptionally bitter pill to swallow. The fact that at the end of the road I ended up in worse shape than I’d ever been in my entire life… well, that has been completely irreconcilable with any concept of reality.”

But Scientology’s abusive mind-control had damaged him beyond repair and left him with no way forward or back. After several thwarted attempts, Greg killed himself in June 2001 at the age of 46, leaving a wife, a 17-year old son and a father to mourn him.

Greg never blamed Hubbard, as he should have done, but blamed himself for the damage done. Because he had had psychiatric counseling and psychiatric drugs at college, he should not have been on the advanced levels. His psychoses – he was having dark thoughts about himself and felt he was covered with alien Body Thetans which he could not get rid of – were his inheritance from Scientology. Greg felt a glimmer of hope after speaking to a former member of the church’s Sea Organization, which is made up of full-time employees who hold its “most essential and trusted positions.” Greg got the impression that the man could use Scientology practices on him to correct the damage that had been done. After speaking to him, Greg promised his father he wouldn't kill himself. But this person said Greg was “really stuck.” Greg wanted “more than anything” to get back into the church but Gregg had failed a security check in Clearwater and had been declared a Potential Trouble Source. “The only place he could ever reach his spiritual freedom was gone,” he says. “His dreams were gone. Life was taken away from him.” He had been taught to believe Scientology was the only solution for his problems. “He was taught to believe psychiatry was evil – now he was in the hands of the most vicious, perverted people.”

Bashaw had spent more than twenty years of his life in Scientology. He gave the group everything he had, spiritually, socially, mentally, professionally, and financially. He wanted to lose his “reactive mind,” but in the and he just lost his mind. His father said: “There were periods of time he was rational and he realized he was losing it and it was a terror, a horrible thing to him.”

Part of this story is less attractive. Greg was one of the Scientologists most involved in the attack on CAN Cult Awareness Network), targeting individuals with black PR. This opens up the question of how commands to do harm are passed down within Scientology, to be followed with such fidelity by individuals whose every natural tendency is to do the opposite.

“The trip to Clearwater had been a disaster. “They threw him out,” Bob says. Greg told him the church 

staff had said he had some kind of medical or physical condition they couldn't help him with, then sent him away, telling him never to return. “That’s when I said, ‘Hey, holy shit. Look what he’s been involved in.’ This is when the whole thing hit the fan with me. I realized what the hell it had done to him.”

He left a note for his son: “Goodbye, you were a good buddy. Love, dad.”

In a press conference held a while back, Nancy Many, author of "My Billion Year Contract" says that when Greg's wife was in negotiations for settlement with The church of Scientology, they caught her alone, without any lawyer, or friend or person, and a very down spot and offered her a pittance.  She goes on to say that when she was given the form to sigh there was a line that "I will never speak to the press or write a book about what happened to my husband".  And she refused to sign it and said, "I might write".  The Scientologist that was giving her the pittance of a check said, "Oh that's ok, I'll just cross out that line because who would want to hear about your husband anyway.  Who would ever care, or read about the death of a Scientologist".

The Psychology of an Abusive Cult Leader

I decided to look into the lives and teachings of some abusive cult leaders and see if there was a pattern and to see if David Miscavige, and of course L. Ron Hubbard fit into these parameters.  I found that there has been a lot of work in this area, and indeed, there are many traits that almost all abusive cult leaders have in common.  These studies have included the likes of Jim Jones (Jonestown Guyana), David Karesh (Branch Davidians), Stewart Traill (The Church of Bible Understanding), Charles Manson, Shoko Asahara (Aum Shinrikyo), Joseph Di Mambro (The Order of the Solar Temple aka Ordre du Temple Solaire), Marshall Heff Applewhit (Heaven’s Gate), Bhagwan Rajneesh (Rajneesh Movement), and Warren Jeffs (polygamist leader).  According to psychologist and ex-F.B.I agent Joe Navarro

"What stands out about these individuals is that they were or are all pathologically narcissistic. They all have or had an over-abundant belief that they were special, that they and they alone had the answers to problems, and that they had to be revered. They demanded perfect loyalty from followers, they overvalued themselves and devalued those around them, they were intolerant of criticism, and above all they did not like being questioned or challenged. And yet, in spite of these less than charming traits, they had no trouble attracting those who were willing to overlook these features."

Let's take an amalgamation of these leaders and see what traits they have in common:

Here are the typical traits of the pathological cult leader you should watch for and which shout caution, get away, run, or avoid if possible: 

He has a grandiose idea of who he is and what he can achieve.

Is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, or brilliance.

Demands blind unquestioned obedience.

Requires excessive admiration from followers and outsiders.

Has a sense of entitlement - expecting to be treated special at all times.

Is exploitative of others by asking for their money or that of relatives putting others at financial risk.

Is arrogant and haughty in his behavior or attitude.

Has an exaggerated sense of power (entitlement) that allows him to bend rules and break laws.

Takes sexual advantage of members of his sect or cult.

Sex is a requirement with adults and sub adults as part of a ritual or rite.

Is hypersensitive to how he is seen or perceived by others. 

Publicly devalues others as being inferior, incapable, or not worthy.

Makes members confess their sins or faults publicly subjecting them to ridicule or humiliation while revealing exploitable weaknesses of the penitent.

Has ignored the needs of others, including: biological, physical, emotional, and financial needs.

Is frequently boastful of accomplishments.

Needs to be the center of attention and does things to distract others to insure that he or she is being noticed by arriving late, using exotic clothing, over dramatic speech, or by making theatrical entrances.

Has insisted in always having the best of anything (house, car, jewelry, clothes) even when others are relegated to lesser facilities, amenities, or clothing.

Doesn’t seem to listen well to needs of others, communication is usually one-way in the form of dictates.

Haughtiness, grandiosity, and the need to be controlling is part of his personality.

Behaves as though people are objects to be used, manipulated or exploited for personal gain.

When criticized he tends to lash out not just with anger but with rage.

Anyone who criticizes or questions him is called an “enemy.”

Refers to non-members or non-believers in him as “the enemy.”

Acts imperious at times, not wishing to know what others think or desire.

Believes himself to be omnipotent.

Has “magical” answers or solutions to problems.

Is superficially charming.

Habitually puts down others as inferior and only he is superior.

Has a certain coldness or aloofness about him that makes others worry about who this person really is and or whether they really know him.

Is deeply offended when there are perceived signs of boredom, being ignored or of being slighted.

Treats others with contempt and arrogance.

Is constantly assessing for those who are a threat or those who revere him.

The word “I” dominates his conversations. He is oblivious to how often he references himself.

Hates to be embarrassed or fail publicly - when he does he acts out with rage.

Doesn’t seem to feel guilty for anything he has done wrong nor does he apologize for his actions.

Believes he possesses the answers and solutions to world problems.

Believes himself to be a deity or a chosen representative of a deity.

Rigid, unbending, or insensitive describes how this person thinks.

Tries to control others in what they do, read, view, or think.

Has isolated members of his sect from contact with family or outside world.

Monitors and or restricts contact with family or outsiders.

Works the least but demands the most.

Has stated that he is “destined for greatness” or that he will be “martyred.”

Seems to be highly dependent of tribute and adoration and will often fish for compliments.

Uses enforcers or sycophants to insure compliance from members or believers.

Sees self as “unstoppable” perhaps has even said so.

Conceals background or family which would disclose how plain or ordinary he is.

Doesn’t think there is anything wrong with himself – in fact sees himself as perfection or “blessed.”

Has taken away the freedom to leave, to travel, to pursue life, and liberty of followers.

Has isolated the group physically (moved to a remote area) so as to not be observed.

When a cult or organizational leader has a preponderance of these traits then we can anticipate that at some point those who associate with him will likely suffer physically, emotionally, psychologically, or financially. If these traits sound familiar to leaders, groups, sects, or organizations known to you then expect those who associate with them to live in despair and to suffer even if they don’t know it, yet.

Two writers on the subject used the label "Trust Bandit" to describe the psychopathic personality.Trust Bandit is indeed an apt description of this thief of our hearts, souls, minds, bodies, and pocketbooks. Since a significant percentage of current and former cult members have been in more than one cultic group or relationship, learning to recognize the personality style of the Trust Bandit can be a useful antidote to further abuse.

The Profile of a Psychopath

In reading the profile, bear in mind the three characteristics that Robert Lifton sees as common to a cultic situation:

1. A charismatic leader who...increasingly becomes the object of worship

2. A series of processes that can be associated with "coercive persuasion" or "thought reform"

3. The tendency toward manipulation from above...with exploitation--economic, sexual, or other--of often genuine seekers who bring idealism from below.

Steve Hassan (former cult member turned psychologist) says, "It's shocking to me that so many people today have not even heard of Jonestown". But Hassan observes the lasting psychological effects every day in his work with former cult victims, and he says cults are growing more powerful and more cunning in their deceit--often by using psychological research findings--while the public remains largely unaware of them.

If cults are going to abuse lessons from social psychology, psychologists must study how they are doing this, Cialdini says. More attention to researching and working with cult victims is needed, Hassan adds. For example, psychologists need specific training to work with former cult members, who often suffer from dissociative or panic disorders, he explains.

"There are lots of individuals who are suffering," Hassan says, "and they need our help."

Referring back to Hubbard and Miscavige, I think you can see that they share too many of the above traits to be ignored and that indeed, people who have loved ones in the "church" of Scientology should have grave concerns for the well-being of those loved ones.

The Insanity Started With Dianetics

STOP!  BEFORE YOU OPEN THIS BOOK, CHECK YOUR COMMON SENSE AT THE DOOR!

As a science fiction writer, Hubbard knew about cognitive dissonance, the feeling of discomfort that results from holding two conflicting beliefs.  Like when you are trying to make some scientific data fit in with what you know is right and it doesn't quite go together.  Hubbard handled it by telling us that if you are having a hard time grasping his information, or if you disagreed with one of his theorems, that you have a misunderstood word.  He makes you responsible for your own discomfort and tells you how to fix it.  You just have to re-define everything you know and you will be alright.

The problem with Dianetics is, you must negate common sense, medical fact and true intellectual thought in order to accept Dianetic theory.  He makes you believe his statements by saying, "All these things are scientific facts, tested and rechecked and tested again. And with them can be produced a clear on whom our racial future depends.", but he provides no documentation.  Let's just take a look at a few examples.

This first one stretches the imagination a bit:

"A patient is urgent in her insistence that her father raped her when she was nine and that this is the cause of all her misery. Large numbers of insane patients claim this. And it is perfectly true. Father did rape her, but it happened she was only nine days beyond conception at the time. The pressure and upset of coitus is very uncomfortable to the child and normally can be expected to give the child an engram which will have as its content the sexual act and everything that was said."

Of course to accept this, you have to believe that an embryo 4 days past the zygote stage is capable of intellectual thought and is able to determine sexual activity from rape, as well as biology.  Actual science tells us that these concepts are not available to us until several years after birth.

Or there is the case of the male negro who had convulsions when audited on prenatal life:

"The convulsion proved to be twenty engrams nearer birth than the basic which lay on another chain and which was discovered by dream technique. The convulsion was caused by the dramatization of an engram involving the injection of turpentine into the uterus by the mother in an attempted abortion. The main engramic chain consisted of the mother's efforts to abort herself. From engramic content it was gathered that the mother was a prostitute, for as many as twenty experiences of coitus succeeded two of these abortion attempts. . . The basic chain contained many quarrels about money between the mother and her customers. The basic incident. . . was found to lie about twenty days after conception, when the mother first discovered her pregnancy."

Hm.  It seems like Hubbard was hung up on abortion.  Look at these:

"The basic proved to be a mutual abortion attempt by the mother and father. The mother said she would die if anyone found out.... The father said the baby was probably like her and he didn't want it. Eighteen penetrations of the head, throat and shoulders with a long orange-wood stick - probably in third month. Several similar incidents completed this chain. Coitus followed each attempt at abortions. Another incident proved to be basic without a chain and with innumerable locks: an attempted abortion by a professional abortionist who used some form of needle and scraper."

And this.

"Attempted abortion is very common. And remarkably lacking in success. The mother, every time she injures the child in such a fiendish fashion, is actually penalizing herself. Morning sickness is entirely engramic, so far as can be discovered, since clears have not so far experienced it during their own pregnancies. And the act of vomiting because of pregnancy is via contagion of aberration. Actual illness generally results only when mother has been interfering with the child either by douches or knitting needles or some such thing.... morning sickness evidently gets into a society because of these interferences such as attempted abortion, and, of course injury."

And lastly:

"And in the case of the ulcers, here was baby poked full of holes (Mama is having a terrible time trying to abort him so she can pretend a miscarriage, and she uses assorted household instruments thrust into the 

cervix to do it) and some of the holes are through and through his baby's abdomen and stomach : he will 

live because he is surrounded by protein and has a food supply and because the sac is like one of these puncture-proof inner tubes that seals up every hole. (Nature has been smart about attempted abortion for a long, long time.)"

Hubbard has come up with the cause and cure of morning sickness.  Right.  If you really believe that, I have a bridge in San Francisco that I would love to sell you.   Also, if you poke holes through a baby's stomach or any of its  vital organs, it is going to die.  It is not going to live to be audited 20 years down the line.  And last, the amniotic sac is not some self-sealing inner tube.  If the baby is not well sufficiently developed to be born, it will die without some surgical assistance.

The Satanic Roots of Scientology

In Hubbard's 1952 Philadelphia Doctorate Course Lectures, he states:

"The magical cults of the 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th centuries in the Middle East were fascinating. The only modern work that has anything to do with them is a trifle wild in spots, but is a fascinating work in itself, and that's the work of Aleister Crowley - the late Aleister Crowley - my very good friend.... He signs himself 'the Beast,' mark of the Beast 666..."

And even as late as 1958, he was trying to tell us where he got his OT information:

"But mysticism/occultism isn't our source. Our source, actually, is magic. Magic is something that, today, is performed on a stage with prestidigitation. But magic actually has a much more vivid and noble history than a stage magician. It is quite remarkable that the magician attempts directly to use spirits to perform his will. And that is his basic modus operandi. That is his goal in practicing magic." from a Lecture given on 29 January 1958, The History of Clearing by L Ron Hubbard.

And even in the OT materials he claims that he came to fulfill the prophecy of the Anti-Christ.  Wow!  It won't come as a big shock to anyone who has researched Hubbard's life.  Many of us already know about the time he was involved in the Babylon Workings.  In case you haven't heard about it:


Hubbard was clearly involved in the occult. In 1945, L. Ron Hubbard met Jack Parsons, who was a renowned scientist, protegee of occultist Aleister Crowley, and a member of the notorious Ordo Templi Orientis (O.T.O.), an international organization founded by Crowley to practice sexual black magic.

Parsons had Hubbard move onto the property of Parsons' Pasadena, California, home. It was there that Hubbard began to practice the occult and sexual magic. Parsons' mistress, Sara Northrup, left him for Hubbard and later became Hubbard's second wife, even before Hubbard had divorced his first wife (The Los Angeles Times, June 24, 1990, p. A37).

Biographer Russell Miller wrote, "Parsons considered that Ron had great magical potential and took the risk of breaking his solemn oath of secrecy to acquaint Ron with some of the O.T.O. rituals.... Parsons wrote to his 'Most Beloved Father' (his term for Aleister Crowley) to acquaint him with events: 'About three months ago I met Captain L. Ron Hubbard.... Although he has no formal training in Magick, he has an extraordinary amount of experience and understanding in the field. From some of his experiences I deduced that he is in direct touch with some higher intelligence, possibly his Guardian Angel. He describes his Angel as a beautiful winged woman with red hair whom he calls the Empress and who has guided him through his life and saved him many times. He is the most Thelemic [self-willed, independent] person I have ever met and is in complete accord with our own principles'" (Russell Miller, Bare-Faced Messiah: the True Story of L. Ron Hubbard, 1987, pp. 117-8,).

"Parsons wanted to attempt an experiment in black magic that would push back the frontiers of the occult world. With the assistance of his new friend, he intended to try and create a 'moonchild' - the magical child 'mightier than all the kings of the earth,' whose birth had been prophesied in The Book of the Law more than forty years earlier"

And former high ranking Scientologists Bent Corydon and Hubbard's son, L. Ron Hubbard Jr., wrote, :

"In order to obtain a woman prepared to bear this magical child, Parsons and Hubbard engaged themselves for eleven days of rituals ¼ on January 18th, Parsons found the girl who was prepared to become the mother of Babylon, and to go through the required incantation rituals. During these rituals, which took place on the first three days of March 1946, Parsons was High Priest and had sexual intercourse with the girl, while Hubbard who was present acted as skryer, seer, or clairvoyant and described what was supposed to be happening on the astral plane" (Bent Corydon & L. Ron Hubbard, Jr., L. Ron Hubbard: Messiah or Madman?, 1987, pp. 256-7).

Hubbard's oldest son, L. Ron Hubbard Jr, said in the 1983 Penthouse interview:

"There was no other religion in the house! Scientology and black magic. What a lot of people don't realize is that Scientology is black magic that is just spread out over a long time period. To perform black magic generally takes a few hours or, at most, a few weeks. But in Scientology it's stretched out over a lifetime, and so you don't see it. Black magic is the inner core of Scientology --and it is probably the only part of Scientology that really works. Also, you've got to realize that my father did not worship Satan. He thought he was Satan. He was one with Satan. He had a direct pipeline of communication and power with him. My father wouldn't have worshiped anything. I mean, when you think you're the most powerful being in the universe, you have no respect for anything, let alone worship."

It just keeps getting better.   Hubbard Jr. says in a taped lecture in 1984:

"As an interesting sidelight, the same individual that transmitted the various Magick tech to Adolf Hitler as a young man also transmitted them to Dad. And like Dad, Hitler, when he came to power, promptly had his teachers and the occult field in general wiped out. This might answer for you in some small way the similarities of the Sea Org and the Guardian's Office to the S.S. and Gestapo. Remember the old revolutionary rule which states one has to, the moment one comes to power, suppress those very things that achieved the power. You must not allow the populace or anyone else to do the things you did to get you there. Which is one of the reasons there has been a great vocal suppression of hypnosis, because that is an entrance point to the Magick which my father used a great deal of, clear up through the fifties and clear up to the point he died."

And more from the same lecture:

"Truth in itself is its own power source. Truth IS. Any is-ness doesn't need exterior power, it is self-powered. It just kind of sits there and glows a little bit and it will do it forever because it has done it forever. But to maintain a lie, a falsehood, a fiction, one needs to really pump the juice into it and keep pumping. The more you pump the more it needs. And the more it needs the more it needs and the more it demands until it finally just implodes. And implodes right on Dad's head. And this is precisely what happened. Dad always felt that he was above any law and felt he had to take the shortcut. He was in a hurry and so therefore he was not a respecter of persons, minds or people (people defined as thetans). The Magick tech itself has quite a number of very basic rules and regulations that demand to be met or what happens to you is what happened to L. Ron Hubbard. Crash! Again he did not practice what he preached and did not follow a gradient and he paid for it.

He was a Master Adept of the Mysteries, but he broke the rules.

He first became involved in the Magick at the age of sixteen, when he read Aleister Crowley's book, The Book of the Law. And because of that Book of the Law, he also started his heavy drug usage trail which led to heavier and heavier use of drugs on himself and of course others in order to reach his goals - to be the most powerful being in the universe. If L. Ron Hubbard had a great deal of knowledge and very little wisdom, then Aleister Crowley did too. The difference between the two men was that Aleister Crowley had very little motivation. Aleister felt rather contented to just quietly be the Beast 666 instead of implementing the Magick for personal gain. This lack of drive and ambition, I think, pushed Dad onward, because to him the only reason and purpose for power was the exercising and the using of it.

When Aleister Crowley died in 1947 that's when Dad decided he would take over the mantle of the Beast and that is the seed and the beginning of Dianetics and Scientology. The Magick tech transcends Scientology tech, but there again, Dad felt that he was above any and all law. Well, one can't be above the Magick laws or one is going to find himself in oblivion and that's exactly what happened. It's extremely foolish for man or beast to think they can contain an exploding hydrogen bomb in their hip pocket."

If OT Powers Actually Worked.

The state of Clear, OT levels and Super Power, are a fraud.  Hubbard knew it and Miscavige, as well as top level management, knows it.  Logic dictates that this is true.  I will give you Hubbard's statements on these first then I will explain why I believe he knew he was perpetuating a fraud.

The state of Clear:

"A Clear is a being who no longer has his own reactive mind, and therefore suffers none of the ill effects the reactive mind can cause. The Clear has no engrams which, when restimulated, throw out the correctness of  his computations by entering hidden and false data."

Super Power:

"A super fantastic, but confidential series of rundowns that can be done on anybody whether Dn [Dianetics] Clear or not that puts the person into fantastic shape unleashing Super Power of a thetan. This means that puts Scientologists into a new realm of ability enabling them to create a new world. It puts world Clearing within reach of the future."

And OT 8:

"Section VIII OT - Ability to be at cause knowingly and at will over thought, life, form, matter, energy, space and time, subjective and objective."

“A thetan who is completely rehabilitated and can do everything a thetan should do, such as move MEST (Matter, Energy, Space and Time) and control others from a distance, or create his own universe; a person who is able to create his own universe or, living in the MEST universe is able to create illusions perceivable others at will, to handle MEST universe objects without mechanical means and to have and feel no need of bodies or even the MEST universe to keep himself and his friends interested in existence.” 

Ok, first off, if Scientology had all these powerful, winning parishioners, why aren't they out there screaming it from the rooftops?  Well, even after all these years, Super Power has yet to be released to the Scientology public.  And that too tells you something.  If Super Power, as well as these other super states worked, it would have been released long before now if only to have happy customers talking about it.  

Next let's look at Scientology Staff and Sea Org members.  Shabbily dressed, underfed and underpaid, most with a look of fear or distress on their faces, seeming only to say, have to, have to, now, now, now, get the product.  Again, if these states were as powerful as touted, people would be flocking in like Canadian Geese to get on service.  You wouldn't have to sell them anything.  They would be screaming to buy.

And lastly, speaking of Staff and Sea org, if you had the technology that Scientology claims to have, and wanted to get everyone in the world "cleared", wouldn't you drive you staff and dedicated Sea Org members up to the top of the "Bridge to Total Freedom" first?  See what I mean?

Ethics? Justice? Welcome to the Nation of Scientology

Have you ever noticed, that when talking to a Scientologist, it seems like you are speaking the same language but not exactly?  Don't worry.  It is that way by design.  It gets even worse when you listen to Scientologists talking to each other.  You know they are speaking your language, but you don't have any idea what they are saying.  This is also on purpose.  It is designed to accomplish three things.  First, it aids the Scientologist to become more indoctrinated by understanding the "secret" language.  Second, it hides what they are saying from the uninitiated.  Third, it makes the Scientologist feel superior to the rest of us.  Also, Hubbard re-defined some words so that he could further enslave the Scientology population which brings us to ethics and justice.

The actual definition of ethics is:

Moral principles that govern a person's or group's behavior.

The moral correctness of specified conduct.

Now let's look at what Hubbard did with that:

ETHICS consists simply of the actions an individual takes on himself. It is a

personal thing. When one is ethical or “has his ethics in,” it is by his own determinism

and is done by himself.

The definition of justice is:

Just behavior or treatment.

The quality of being fair and reasonable.

Whereas Hubbard defined it as:

JUSTICE is the action taken on the individual by the group when he fails to take

these actions himself.

Let's look at ethics first.  Notice that Hubbard left out a very important piece.  Morality.  If you look at his personal life, Hubbard may have known the definition of morality, but he certainly didn't think it applied to him. It is also not ethical or moral to take drugs while telling your followers not to.  Actually though, his definition is a lie.  It says that it is by one's own determinism and done by himself.  I want you to get this.  Any disagreement you may have with policy, coursework or Scientology administrators will get you sent to the ethics officer in a minute.  If the ethics officer cannot get you to see the error of your ways then you get to go through justice actions.

Believe me when I tell you that I and many others have found out the hard way that the reason Hubbard defined justice the way he did is that Scientology justice is in no way fair or reasonable.  Throwing a person into a concentration camp because they want to leave is not justice.  Ripping a person away from their family is not reasonable.  In Scientology, it happens regularly.

These two examples are only the tip of a very large iceberg.  Look around and you will find many more.  Hubbard wanted nothing less than world domination and if he had not gone 'round the bend at Creston ranch, he would have kept working toward that goal until his last dying breath.

What I really want you to get is this.  If you join Scientology and especially if you join staff or the Sea Organization, you will become a citizen of Scientology and will be giving up the rights you have as a citizen of your country.  Don't believe me?  Ask an ex Scientologist.

The Great OT Challenge

I am going to try to be fair here, and give Scientology the benefit of the doubt.  I will forget, for a moment, what was done to me at the hands of Scientology Upper Management in the interest of a fair challenge.  Also, just to be fair, we will use only the words of Hubbard written before 1986.  No re-writes.   In the book Scientology 8-8008, Hubbard writes:

“A thetan who is completely rehabilitated and can do everything a thetan should do, such as move MEST (Matter, Energy, Space and Time) and control others from a distance, or create his own universe; a person who is able to create his own universe or, living in the MEST universe is able to create illusions perceivable by others at will, to handle MEST universe objects without mechanical means and to have and feel no need of bodies or even the MEST universe to keep himself and his friends interested in existence.” 

And, of course, I am going to add the abilities gained from the Scientology Grade Chart from 1986:

Section VIII OT - Ability to be at cause knowingly and at will over thought, life, form, matter, energy, space and time, subjective and objective.

Scientology has claimed that the fall of Communism in Europe is directly related to the release of OT 8 and as far as I can determine, since OT 8 was released, there have to be a couple of hundred of them at least.  So if you got just a few of them together, their postulates would have to come true, wouldn't they?  My challenge is not even as difficult as the fall of the Berlin Wall.

Here is my challenge.  To Mr. Miscavige and the Upper Management of the "church" of Scientology.  If you accept this challenge, at a place and time of my choosing, you may bring up to six (6) OT 8's for a simple test of their combined OT abilities.  They are to levitate (without ever having touched it) an ashtray that I will provide.  It will be in a public place and the media will be invited.

The terms are simple.  If your OT's manage to pull off this amazing feat,  I will retract every negative thing I ever said about Scientology and will no longer protest Scientology publicly or privately.

If, on the other hand, your OT's are not able to perform, David Miscavige must publicly apologize to me for my treatment by Scientology Upper management and must admit that the OT levels are a fraud.

Mr. Miscavige, I await your response.

Another Petition - Why We Should Sign It

Ok.  I know how you feel.  Every time we have had a petition up, even when we had the required amount of signatures, it hasn't gone the way we wanted it.  Now, it seems to have us daunted because the required number of signatures is much higher.  It is up to 100,000 now.  So far we have only gotten 2137 as of this writing.  We only have until February 20th to get the remaining signatures.

I would like to put this in sports terms for a minute.  Every time a batter comes to the plate, the odds against that man hitting a home run are 1 in 35.26.  Each time you come to bat, you are that much closer to a hit.  There is only of definite in this equation.  If you don't walk up to the plate, you will never get a hit.

This time we are asking that the President remove the religious and tax exempt status of the "church" of Scientology.  Here is the petition:

 WE PETITION THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION TO:

Recognize that the Church of Scientology is harmful to both its members and critics and revoke tax exempt 
status.

It is obvious that the Church of Scientology is physically and psychologically abusing its members in an attempt to extort from them.

Scientology is abusing its legal classification as a religion to deny its members basic human rights and operate as a criminal organization. It is time to revoke the status it so wantonly abuses.

It is also time to recognize the Church's abuse of the United States legal system to illegally impose its will on those that would criticize Scientology and its practices and bring to light the true purpose of Scientology: to take advantage of people through extortion, intimidation, and faux-religious blind-siding.

What Scientology Does To It's Enemies

First off let's define who Scientology's enemies are.  First, you have the public (Scientology's paying parishioners) that have left Scientology and spoken out, or have embarrassed Scientology in some way (usually by bringing a law suit against another Scientologist that could bring out some Scientology secrets into the public eye).  Second, you have ex staff members and ex Sea Org members that have come to the realization that Scientology doesn't work as advertised and are telling their stories publicly so that others don't get hooked into this oppressive cult.  Lastly, there are people outside Scientology (press, authors, television personalities, politicians, law enforcement, lawyers, judges and others), who dare to publicly disclose Scientology's crimes and anti social behaviors. 

For the parishioners, Staff and Sea Org who have left and spoken out, the first step is to Declare the person a Suppressive Person (excommunication).  This means that if you have any family and friends in Scientology, they will not be allowed any contact with you lest they too be declared.  Also, for ex members that have been up into the OT levels (the secret sci-fi past of all mankind and the exorcism of the multiple layers of entities who inhabit humans bodies with them, at the cost of hundreds of thousands of dollars) Scientology, through it's lawyers, spend thousands of dollars a day on private investigators just to follow and spy upon these people in an effort to make sure that they are not speaking out.  I wish I was making this up, but I know more than one person who has this happen to them multiple times daily.  

I also know people who have never been in Scientology who are harassed by PI's on a daily basis because they have taken a public stance against Scientology as they have seen only a wrongness of Scientology's actions.  To those special people may I say a big thank you.

 So what about police agencies and the press?  By policy, Scientology attacks them the hardest.  These policies were written by Hubbard and still in practice today.  Here are some examples:

HCO POLICY LETTER OF 15 FEBRUARY 1966 - ATTACKS ON SCIENTOLOGY

Anyone proposing an investigation of or an "Inquiry" into Scientology must receive this reply and no other proposal:
"We welcome an investigation into (Mental Healing or whoever is attacking us) as we have begun one ourselves and find shocking evidence."
You can elaborate on the evidence we have found and lay it on thick attacking the attackers only. NEVER agree to an investigation of Scientology. ONLY agree to an investigation of the attackers This was the BIG error made in Victoria. I Okayed an Inquiry into all Mental healing. I ordered evidence on psychiatric murders to be collected. Non-compliance with these orders brought on the loss of Melbourne and the law in Victoria against Scientology. This was the non-compliance that began it. The original order I gave was relayed as "we welcome an Inquiry into Scientology . . ." or it was changed to that in  Melbourne.
This is correct procedure:
(1) Spot who is attacking us.
(2) Start investigating them promptly for FELONIES or worse using own professionals, not outside agencies.
(3) Double curve our reply by saying we welcome an investigation of them.
(4) Start feeding lurid, blood sex crime actual evidence on the attackers to the press.
Don't ever tamely submit to an investigation of us. Make it rough, rough on attackers all the way.
You can get "reasonable about it" and lose. Sure we break no laws. Sure we have nothing to hide. BUT 
attackers are simply an anti-Scientology propaganda agency so far as we are concerned They have proven 
they want no facts and will only lie no matter what they discover. So BANISH all ideas that any fair 
hearing is intended and start our attack with their first breath. Never wait Never talk about us - only 
them. Use their blood, sex, crime to get headlines. Don't use us.

I speak from 15 years of experience in this There has never yet been an attacker who was not reeking with 
crime. All we had to do was look for it and murder would come out. They fear our Meter. They fear freedom. They fear the way we are growing. Why? Because they have too much to hide. When you use that rationale you win. When you go dishwater and say "we honest chickens just plain love to have you in the coop, Brer Fox," we get clobbered. The right response is "We militant public defenders of  
the freedom of the people want that there Fox investigated for eating living chickens!" Shift the spotlight to them. No matter how. Do it!

You can elaborate on the formula. Let's say some other branch of government wants to investigate us via the press Just apply the formula:

"We welcome a public inquiry into (that branch activity) as we already have begun to investigate their (...)."
It will always work. It even would have worked on the U.S. F.D.A. when they first began five years before 
their raid on DC. They run! And that's all we want.

HOW TO STOP ATTACKS
The way we will eventually stop all attacks from there on out is by processing the society as follows:
(l) Locate a source of attack on us.
(2) Investigate it.
(3) Expose it with wide lurid publicity.

Remember, CHURCHES ARE LOOKED UPON AS REFORM GROUPS. Therefore we must act like a reform group. The way to seize the initiative is to use our own professionals to investigate intensively parts of the society that may attack us. Get an ammunition locker full. Be sure of our facts. And then expose via the press.

Don't worry about libel if our facts indicate rottenness. The last thing that target will do is sue as then we would have a chance to prove it in court, which they are terrified of our doing. Remember - the only reason we are in trouble with the press or government is that we are not searching out and exposing rotten spots in the society. We must practice on the whole group called society.

And what if the "evidence" they dig up is not lurid enough?  No problem.  They will make it up as evidenced by what they "the church" did to well known writer Paulette Cooper , author of "The Scandal of Scientology", who testifies about the covert operations Scientology used against her to try to ruin her life.

I try not to get too emotional on these posts, some of my friends have told me I am not emotional enough, but I have a need right now to say something.  At whatever time of day you read this, right now, there are people that I love and care about who are being subjected to this kind of terrorism and it MUST STOP NOW.  Please God, LET IT STOP.

Scientologists Really Believe This

The Christian community as well as most life affirming religions consider that Source equals God, or the Creator.  Scientologists believe that L. Ron Hubbard was source although there is no physical evidence that he created anything but another apocalyptic cult.  

That, in itself, is not that disturbing.  What I find more disturbing is that they put Hubbard's writings, Management and buildings above Scientologists.  They place themselves above professionals and artists and those above "good citizens".  I find it interesting that they place criminals above rocks, insects and fence posts, but all of these above The FBI, CIA and INTERPOL, and all of the above over squirrels (people who practice Scientology outside of the church).  Lowest in the food chain is, of course, the psych's (psychiatrists and psychologists).  Very strange but not if you know certain facts.

You see in 1974, Hubbard announced to the Scientology world who he "really was".  He claimed that he was none other than Maitreya (a bodhisattva who in the Buddhist tradition is to appear on Earth, achieve complete enlightenment, and teach the pure dharma. According to scriptures, Maitreya will be a successor of the historic Sakyamuni Buddha. The prophecy of the arrival of Maitreya references a time when the Dharma will have been forgotten on Jambudvipa. It is found in the canonical literature of all Buddhist sects (Theravada, Mahayana, Vajrayana), and is accepted by most Buddhists as a statement about an event that will take place when the Dharma will have been forgotten on Earth)  Of course he changed the name slightly and called himself Metteyya, whether a misspelled word or artistic license who knows.

He made this epic announcement in a work called "The Hymn of Asia"  In he claimed that:


I come to bring you
all that Lord Buddha
would have you know 
of life, Earth and Man.

I come to you with
Freedom
I come to you with 
science
I come to teach you
I come to help you.


With arduous study
With interest and
love
You will all
In very few years
Some in months
Become Bodhi


I can be addressed
But in our temples best

Censor not free speech And censor not free thought - If you have ever been in Scientology, you know that this is a bald faced lie.  Not only do they censor free speech and free thought, they go to court to prevent them.


We can make kind The cruel. - If you have ever been on staff, you know that some of the most cruel and anti social people in the world make it to senior management positions.

Scientology Volunteer Ministers - Another Pathway to Hell

Today I want to go into the wrongness of the actions of the Scientology Volunteer Ministers.  But first, I want to say, SHAME on you John Travolta!  Why?  Because you know better.  You know that Scientology and it's "assists" are a sham.  You know from personal experience that they don't work, and yet you are still a shill for this organization.  Make no mistake, The Volunteer Ministers program is not a certified disaster relief program, nor is it a charitable organization although many of the volunteers may be at disaster sites  for altruistic ideals.  You see the "church" not only deceives the public at large, but probably 99% of it's own parishioners as well.  

Firstly, Scientologists are not trained in actual approved disaster response techniques.  They are not trained in search and rescue.  They are not trained in approved first aid.  They are not trained in how to deal with their own emotional responses to the immeasurable pain and death that one would find at a full on disaster site.  I will quote two volunteer ministers from the Haiti earthquake disaster:

"I came here to give touch assists to people, but how do you give a touch assist to a burnt corpse?" sobbed Annette Lolly from Clearwater, Florida. "This place is a stinking hell-hole and I want to go home!" She collapsed in tears and had to be helped onto the plane.


Tim Pedoski of Glendale, California, said he was not prepared for the things he saw. "These people need way more than we've been trained to provide," he said. "There is death and horror here and we were trained for scratches and mild upsets. The best thing I can do is get out of the way of the professionals."


If these people are still in the "church", you can bet they had to go through a long ethics program before they were allowed to go back on Scientology services.  These people were not trained in how to even deal with themselves, let alone how to really help in a disaster.  They have only been trained to hand out tissues to crying people, give out water bottles and deliver Scientology assists, and "Way to Happiness" booklets.  The really sad thing is that if the "church" really wanted their volunteers to be effective, they would put all of their volunteer ministers through the C.E.R.T. program it is free in most U.S. cities and is the most intense and rewarding program I have ever been through.  It teaches you how to be confident and truly effective in a disaster situation.  You can find out more about that program here.

So what training do they get.  The main training they receive is three Scientology processes called assists.  The first is called the touch assist.  It is touching the victims on various parts of the body and saying, "feel my finger?" and getting a response from the victim.  Scientologists are told that this process is to get the person back in touch with their body and that it will alleviate pain and therefore bring the person back into present time, making that person more able to deal with whatever emotional trauma they are going through.  What this process really is designed to do (although most Scientologists don't know it) is give the victim a temporary relief from the pain by misdirecting their concentration to other parts of the body, thereby making them think they feel better.  Therein is the hook.  Then you tell them you are a minister with the "church" of Scientology  and that they feel better because of the things you learned there.

The next process is for victims that are suffering from emotional trauma and shock, to supposedly relieve that trauma and get the person back into present time and therefore more able to deal with the problem at hand, which is survival.  The process is actually another sleight of hand misdirection.  It does not actually remove emotional trauma.  It temporarily buries is making you "feel better" for a time.  The problem is, the trauma has not been effectively dealt with.  The "auditing" commands for this process are, "see that tree? thank you, see that rock? thank you.  see that light pole?  thank you."  and it goes on till you can answer some simple questions.

The last process is the "nerve assist".  It is done without verbal commands.  You run your fingers down and across various "ley lines" of the body in an effort to "release" and blockages in the nerve paths of the body.  It is based loosely upon ancient Chinese acupuncture meridians although Hubbard never gave due credit to any other practice besides Scientology and never gave credit for any of his processes to anyone but himself.  It also doesn't work as advertised.

As concerning the processes above, and trained medical or mental health technician will tell you that  trauma and shock  need to be treated as soon as possible medically because if it is not, it can have long term effects up to and including death.  I don't know about you, but if I am injured in an accident I would really rather be treated by someone who is trained to help me than Tom Cruise.  Just saying.

In New York in 2001, during one of the worst disasters in American history, Scientology Volunteer Ministers showed up in their yellow jackets with not only Scientology stenciled on them but N.M.H.A. as well which is the initials for the National Mental Health Association.  Sleazy?  Yes, but that is not the worst thing they did during this disaster.  They actually had Fox News run (as a public service announcement) on the bottom of the screen, "National Mental Health Assistance   800-FOR-TRUTH".  That phone number is a Scientology information line.  Hubbard has said that you should never trust anything that says mental health and then they use mental health for their advertisements.

Oh yeah, I forgot, I wanted to mention one other assist.  I have been Out of Scientology for more than 17 years so I do not know if it is still in the Volunteer Ministers Handbook.  It is called the "Back to Life" assist. The "auditing command" is yelled at the corpse. It is "Get back in your body and bring it back to life!"  There is absolutely no empirical evidence that it works.

Please be aware that Scientology is only interested in your money. The Scientology Volunteer Ministers are only another recruitment mechanism.  They will stoop to these tactics and worse to get it.  Please, if you are ever in a disaster or accident (which I pray never happens) ask for someone medically trained.  It may be worth your life.
